At June 11 2005, Tromsø was the place to be. That’s when 46664 Arctic took place, a 8 hour long concert broadcasted live on norwegian tv with Nelson Mandela and artists like Annie Lennox, Brian May, Robert Plant, Peter Gabriel, Zucchero, Angelique Kidjo, Sharon Corr, Anneli Drecker, Ane Brun and many many more. 46664 is Nelson Mandela’s campaign to help raise Global awareness of AIDS/HIV and the concert was a part of this. Nelson Mandela was present and he spoke to the audience “This has indeed been a long journey from Johannesburg in South Africa to Tromso in Norway. But we are pleased to be here. Tonight, the people of Tromso can stand tall and proud. In hosting this concert you have signaled to the world that you care.”.
